After the Indian cricket team’s brilliant performance in the limited overs series vs New Zealand, the Men in Blue’s next big assignment is the upcoming Test series vs Australia starting this month.
Team India won both the ODI and the T20I series vs New Zealand in as well as beating Sri Lanka in the series previous to that.
But now, the next big challenge awaits for the Men in Blue in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, with the first match to be played from the 9th February in Nagpur.
Meanwhile before the series, there is a big question mark over Team India’s Playing XI especially because middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the 1st Test atleast due to injury.
Former India wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik believes that Suryakumar Yadav should play in that role ahead of Shubman Gill. Suryakumar has been brought into the team without much red ball cricket in the last 3 years.
However, Twitter believes that is a foolish decision to drop Shubman Gill, who is in terrific form in the recent series vs Sri Lanka and New Zealand, also scored a double hundred in an ODI match and a hundred in a T20I match, both against New Zealand.
Dinesh Karthik backs Suryakumar Yadav to play ahead of Shubman Gill for the first BGT Test in case Shreyas Iyer misses out.

Dropping someone in form is a big mistake…make the most of it when u r in form, though SKY must play 3 test matches instead of shreyas, let’s see if he can perform at test level,if he does,he can be X factor, shreyas has to wait though he has done nothing wrong but gill must play

Disagree. Shubhman Gill's temperament and technique suits test cricket. He has been a match winner for us in Australia. Most young batsmen today display less staying ability at the crease due to the influence of short format.

No way Gill is a Perfect batsman for test match..& his current form doesn't support what Dinesh Karthik said
