Current India captain Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have been the most successful opening duo of late. However, Dhawan lost his place in the team with youngsters coming through. But since Rohit Sharma has become the captain of the team, Shikhar Dhawan has found himself back in the scheme of things for ODI setup and in probably in contention to feature in the 2023 World Cup as well.
Meanwhile, if that happens, KL Rahul will have leave his position and might have settle down lower down the order, where he basically started India career.

He has a good future ahead.
Only problem India is facing is the balance.
Samson or KL should bowl part time.. like Raina shewag Sachin. In past all front line batters were able to bowl 4 5 overs & take random wickets. That’s missing.

It’s better than he himself comes to bat there over KL Rahul or Pant.
