“Now we have Baby AB and Junior Malinga” – Twitter reacts to CSK signing Sri Lankan youngster Matheesha Pathirana

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the one of the most successful franchise in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), is going through a rough patch this season, currently lurking at the 2nd last position in the points table.

The team, that won the title last year, is having a massive trouble, whether it’s about scoring runs, or taking wickets. Their most promising player from last season, Ruturaj Gaikwad, is a having a terrible season so far. Whereas, they are missing the services of their top bowler Deepak Chahar.

And now, New Zealand pace bowler Adam Milne has also been ruled out of the competition due to injury suffered in the first match of the season. The franchise have named Sri Lankan youngster Matheesha Pathirana as his replacement.

The announcement has stirred up quite some excitement among the CSK fans. The 19-years-old Sri Lankan youngster is quite famously known as Junior Malinga, due to the resemblance of bowling action to the legend Lasith Malinga.

Matheesha Pathirana shot to fame during the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in 2020 and 2022, especially because of the same wide arm bowling action as the Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga.

The news stirred up quite some excitement among the CSK and IPL fans. They are quite excited to see the Junior Malinga in action soon and wants him to succeed as much as Baby AB Dewald Brevis.
