"It’s time our girls rule cricket as well"- Twitter reacts as the media rights for WIPL sold for INR 951 crore to Viacom 18

WIPL: There is no comparison between the Indian Premier League and its numbers among the other Twenty20 leagues across the world. The money and stakes involved in it are greater than some of the biggest sports leagues in the world.

And it will not be a wrong statement to say that, to some extent, the game of cricket is not just a sport; it is also a business in India. The craze for this game is just unreal among the other cricket playing nations. And the introduction of the Indian Premier League in 2008 took Indian cricket to another level, which is growing year after year.

As per the latest developments, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to introduce the Women’s IPL, and the inaugural season will take place on March 3, 2023. And for the WIPL, the BCCI has gotten a massive deal of INR 951 crore from Viacom18 for the next five years, which will come to around Rs 7.09 crore per match. However, one interesting fact is that the BCCI is earning a total value of INR 49.341 crore from the media rights of both the IPL and the WIPL.

As soon as this news came out, the Indian fans couldn’t hold on, because just as the IPL has benefited men’s cricket, it is also certain that the WIPL will boost women’s cricket in India.
