It was Lucknow captain KL Rahul who won the toss and opted to bowl first. But his decision was completely blown away by the RCB batters, particularly Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis.

The duo added an opening partnership of 96 runs. Virat Kohli scored 61 runs and Faf du Plessis remained not out for 79 runs. Glenn Maxwell also joined the party and scored 59 runs in 29 balls.

While the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are at the front foot in this match as of writing this, there is a particular statement made by commentator Simon Doull that is currently doing rounds in social media.

Simon Doull talked about Virat Kohli’s performance in the match. However, he didn’t praise but criticise him. Doull, just like he criticised Babar Azam during the PSL 2023, criticised Virat Kohli for slowing down to complete his own milestone.

During the on air commentary, Simon Doull first praised Virat Kohli for scoring about 42 runs in about 25 balls and then he pointed that then Kohli took 10 balls to reach his fifty from 42.

“He had scored 42 off 25 deliveries, and then took 10 deliveries to reach his half century, Rather than putting the team first, Rather than looking for boundaries, still so much firepower to come. Fifty are brilliant, stats are great, but it has to be team first,” Doull said while on commentary.
