On Sunday, April 9th, during a match against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player Rinku Singh etched his name in the history books by achieving the remarkable feat of chasing down the most runs in the final over of an IPL game.

During the match against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, April 9, KKR’s Rinku Singh hit five consecutive sixes in the 20th over to chase down 28 runs in five deliveries, resulting in one of the most remarkable run chases in IPL history.

During the nail-biting chase, Rinku Singh’s explosive hitting was especially severe on Gujarat’s Yash Dayal, who ended up conceding a whopping 69 runs in his four overs, becoming the second-worst bowler in an IPL match in history. Rinku Singh’s impressive performance in the match against Gujarat Titans came just two days after Yash Dayal congratulated him for his 46 off 33 balls in a match-winning effort against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Eden Gardens.

During that match, Rinku had formed a crucial 103-run partnership with Shardul Thakur for the sixth wicket, helping KKR recover from a batting collapse to post a total of 204/7. Kolkata eventually won that game by a massive margin of 81 runs.

Rinku Singh took to Instagram to express his gratitude towards the fans as the Eden Gardens stadium hosted an IPL game after three years since the COVID-19 pandemic.
