Former Australian cricketer and 2 times World Cup winning captain Ricky Ponting has named the 2 teams that he believes will make it to the final of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 to be played in Australia.
After the major success of the T20 World Cup 2021 which the Australian team won, the gala event for the shortest format of the game is back again to be played in October this year in Australia.
Australia is the current defending champion having won the trophy the last time around, their first ever T20 World Cup glory. Aaron Finch led the side very well in the tournament that was played UAE as the Aussies won their first ever T20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, with the latest edition now just days away, former Australia captain and one of the most successful, Ricky Ponting has named 2 teams he believes that will make it to the final of the T20 World Cup 2022.
While talking to the host Sanjana Ganesan in ICC’s The ICC Review show, Ricky Ponting picked Australia and India to be the most favourite to reach the final of the tournament and picked the hosts to come out victorious.
“I think India and Australia will be the two playing in the final and I will just have to say that Australia will beat them in the final,” said Ponting.
Ponting believes the home condition will be of great for the Aussies citing an example of their last World Cup in 2015 in their home condition. He also added that England is one who may be a serious threat to India and Australia, also given the fact the amount of cricket that England plays in Australia during the Ashes.
