“The biggest problem for CSK was” – Ravi Shastri highlights where it all went wrong for CSK in IPL 2022

Former head coach of the Indian cricket team Ravi Shastri believes that the performance of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would not have been so bad if Deepak Chahar had not been injured and took part in this season.

Speaking on ESPNcricinfo, Ravi Shastri said that Deepak Chahar has the art of taking wickets with the new ball. According to him, this season would have been very good one for Chahar as the ball has been seen swinging in Mumbai pitches in this edition.

According to Ravi Shastri, the biggest problem for CSK this season was the absence of Deepak Chahar. Chahar is such a bowler who gives you 1-2 wickets in the powerplay itself. He said that Chahar would have had taken a lot of wickets in these pitches as the fast bowlers have had a lot of swing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

“The biggest problem for CSK was Deepak Chahar’s unavailability. He is the type of pacer who can give you one or two wickets upfront,” said the former India Head Coach.

It must be noted that, Chahar had a back injury, due to which he was ruled out of the entirety of the tournament. At the same time, the performance of CSK has also been very disappointing this season, who have won only 4 out of 14 matches.

According to Ravi Shastri, CSK team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni will give a chance to young players like Mukesh Chaudhary, Simarjeet Singh and Mahesh Teekshana in the next season as well. He believes that if all these young players are given more chances, then their performance will be much better than before.

However, Shastri believes that the franchise should include a good middle order batsman and excellent fast bowler in their team in the next season so that the balance of the team gets better.

In his last league match of this season, Dhoni has agreed that he will lead Chennai Super Kings next season as well, after which all CSK fans are very happy. Let us tell you, before the start of this season, Dhoni had left the captaincy of the team, after which all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was appointed as the captain of the team. But after continuous poor performance, Jadeja handed over the captaincy of the team back to Dhoni.
