Former Pakistan great cricketer and captain Rashid Latif has compared the current Pakistan cricket team’s captain Babar Azam with the greats of the game, Don Bradman and Brian Lara in an exclusive interview video.
Babar Azam is currently one of the best player playing for the country. He has been an instrumental member of the Pakistan team’s set-up ever since making his International debut for the Men in Green.
Azam has carried the team on his shoulders in many occasions, taking the team from the losing position to a better position or even the win. And after his great performance for the country, Azam was also handed the captaincy reign due to his sheer leadership skills.
And former Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif also accepted the fact that Babar Azam is currently one of the best of the generation. In an exclusive interview for an YouTube channel named Cricket Den, he even compared him with the greats like Don Bradman and Brian Lara.
Latif stated that they (Don Bradman and Brian Lara) were greats of their generation, and Babar Azam is the Bradman and Lara of this generation, “They were greats of that era. He (Babar) is the Bradman and Lara of this era.”
However, he also added that this generation of players are not be compared to the greats of the past generation, since much has changed in terms of game and the structure. He even called Babar Azam a better player produced by the country compare to the legends like Inzamam-ul-Haq, Wasim Akram, Javed Miandad and Waqar Younis to name a few.
Azam is considered onw of the greatest cricketer of this current generation, is already being compared with the likes of Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson, many even saying he better than every name mentioned above, except for the former India captain Virat.
Azam is close to 100 games in the limited overs format, playing 86 and 74 ODIs and T20Is respectively, and has scored near about 7000 runs including both the formats. He has also represented his country in 40 Test matches and has scored 2851 runs.
