“It’s going to start being tough for players” – Quinton de Kock gives out warning message to multi-format players following Ben Stokes retirement

South African international wicketkeeper batsman Quinton de Kock had a clear cautious message for the multi-format players and believes it won’t be a coup for them with the way the game of the bat and ball progressing with more hectic schedule.

The cricketing world is seeing a bit of chaos right now after the England all-rounder Ben Stokes recently retired from the One Day International (ODI) format of the game to focus more on T20Is and Test cricket.

His retirement also signals the heavy workload that the cricketers are now facing nowadays. Many players are struggling to perform as because of which, while some are not able to perform in any format as because they are unable to play according to intensity required for different formats.

Ben Stokes had to make a decision to retire from ODI cricket as he loves playing the shortest format of the game and he is the captain of England Test team.

Meanwhile, after the 3rd ODI between England and South Africa was called, South Africa’s wicketkeeper batsman Quinton de Kock gave every multi-format player a formal warning. “It’s going to start being tough for players – three formats is a lot and it looks like more games are happening over the calendar,” said de Kock.

“Players need to make decisions individually and if they feel they can do it (play Tests, ODIs and Twenty20 internationals), I am happy for them,” – added de Kock.

It must be noted that Quinton de Kock decided to quit the longest format of the game, Test cricket and just only plays the ODI and the T20I format of the game.

De Kock played 54 Test matches before his retirement and scored 3300 runs at an average of 38.8. He retired after the Centurion Test against India last year.

Meanwhile, de Kock remained 92 runs not out in the 3rd and the and deciding match of the 3 match series before it was rain washed after 27.4 overs of play.
