Preity Zinta, the co-owner of Punjab Kings, has criticized individuals who ridiculed Arjun Tendulkar over allegations of nepotism. She also commended the Mumbai Indians’ pacemaker for his heroics during the final over against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday.
In their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted a formidable total of 192 runs with the help of Cameron Green’s 64 runs and quick contributions from Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s chase was anchored mainly by Mayank Agarwal and Heinrich Klassen, as the other batsmen failed to contribute significantly. With 20 runs to defend in the last over, Arjun Tendulkar was given the responsibility to bowl.
He executed a series of yorkers, which earned him praise from the likes of Ravi Shastri for his impressive thought process.
During the live TV commentary, Ravi Shastri expressed his admiration for Arjun Tendulkar’s performance, saying “This is good stuff. He is nailing in those yorkers. The thought process is good with the line he wants to bowl and the clarity of thought.”
Arjun Tendulkar began the final over on a high note, conceding only four runs in the first three deliveries while also executing a run-out of Abdul Samad, who became impatient. He then took the crucial wicket of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, which ultimately led to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s defeat as they were all out for 178 runs.
Arjun Tendulkar has been receiving accolades from various quarters for his composed performance, including recent praise from Preity Zinta. The co-owner of Punjab Kings acknowledged that Arjun had faced mockery from some people over allegations of nepotism but stated that his performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad proved that he deserved his spot in the Mumbai Indians team. Zinta also expressed that Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun’s father and cricket legend, would have been proud of his son’s efforts.
“Many mocked him for nepotism but tonight he has shown his spot is well earned. Congrats Arjun. @sachin_rt you must be so proud,” tweeted Preity Zinta.
