“Then will see who goes to play in the IPL over PSL” – PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja makes bold claim on IPL vs PSL

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is back as in just couple of days time, the IPL 2022 will kick-off on the 26th March in Mumbai with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the opening match.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is by-far the most entertaining T20 cricket league in the world as well as the most richest league, hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Even though there are existence of many other T20 leagues around the world, only the Big Bash League (BBL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) seems to be the only competitor to IPL, seems way behind compare to latter.

Recently, the Pakistan Super League also completed its 2022 season to a grand success. And the current Pakistan Cricket Board chairman and former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja has made a bold claim in his recent statement.

In a recent interview published by the ESPNcricinfo, Ramiz Raja stated that when the PSL will introduce the Auction system and increase the purse pool, then PSL will automatically be better than the IPL and players will prefer PSL over IPL.

Raja stated, “The game is about and when we will grow in our economy, we will automatically get respect. If we take PSL to Auction model, increase the purse pool, then I will put in the IPL bracket and then will see who goes to play in the IPL over PSL.”

It must be noted that the BCCI conducts a player auction every year for its franchise’s to sign up players, domestic or overseas, whereas, Pakistan Super League (PSL) follows the draft model, where players are drafted by the teams, will salary pre-determined as per the category.

The Pakistan Super League’s 2022 season got completed on the 27th of February, where the Lahore Qalandars emerged as the champions of the league, beating the dominant team of the season, the Multan Sultans.

Indian Premier League (IPL)’s 2022 season will kick-off on the 26th March with the last year’s finalists Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders playing in the opening match of the season. The final will be played on the 29th May.
