Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Amir is all set to return to red-ball cricket. Amir has been included in Gloucestershire’s squad to play three matches in the English County Championship 2022, replacing fellow injured country men Naseem Shah.
Pakistan cricket team’s former pace bowler Mohammad Amir is set to return in action and take Naseem Shah’s place in Gloucestershire team. Naseem will be kept out till the start of the T20 blast due to injury. Amir arrived in England on Thursday (April 21) and has joined the team in Manchester.
Interestingly, the left-arm pacer played his last red ball match for Essex in the English County Championship in August 2019. He has already retired from the international format and has since appeared in leagues around the world. Mohammad Amir was excited after signing up with Gloucestershire County Club and is looking forward to his return to first-class cricket.
Amir was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo as saying that the County Championship is a great competition and he can’t wait to join Gloucestershire and that he loves playing in England conditions and I feel really good.
Meanwhile, Gloucestershire Performance Director Steve Snell was delighted to see a bowler like Mohammad Amir joining the squad for the team.
He believes that the left-arm pacer’s international experience will certainly help Gloucestershire. Also, the county team will help the injured Naseem Shah to be fully fit to be available for the T20 Blasts, England’s premier T20 league.
