The mega-auction of IPL 2022 saw a lot of big names from across the world. And over 200 players were sold during the two-day event. And one such big name is England’s speedster, Jofra Archer. The star pacer is currently in his recovery stage from his elbow injury and has been out of cricket for almost a year. But still, Archer registered for the 2022 auction. The star pacer will not be available for the 2022 season because of his injury. Despite that, franchises looked eager to get him on their team.

Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals started the bidding war for Archer, but eventually it was the Mumbai Indians who got the star pacer at a price of INR 8 crore at the end. Hence, the star pacer will play for MI starting next season in the IPL 2023. Arguably, Jofra Archer is one of the fastest bowlers going around in the IPL, and that’s what his demand showed at the auction. He has also played a handful of games in the cash-rich league.

The star pacer has played a total of 35 IPL games, taking 46 wickets at an average of 21.3 with an economy of 7.13. He is good at both the powerplay and the death overs as well. His pin-point yorkers and bouncers are hard for the batsmen to pick. However, the lost awaited pairing will be, Archer bowling along side with Jasprit Bumrah. Fans are also waiting for this lethal pair to watch in the IPL, which will now be possible only in IPL 2023 season.
