“Real king” – Not Babar Azam but Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir said Virat Kohli is the Real King after his back-to-back Century in IPL 2023

Mohammad Amir, the former Pakistani fast bowler, once again expressed admiration for Indian and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli, commending him for surpassing Chris Gayle’s record to become the player with the most centuries in IPL history.

Kohli achieved this milestone in a crucial match against the Gujarat Titans for RCB. With a total of seven IPL centuries, Kohli’s overall century count now exceeds 80.

Following this accomplishment, Mohammad Amir took a subtle swipe at Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam. Amir indirectly compared Azam’s approximately 30 centuries to Kohli’s achievement, emphasizing that Kohli is the “real king.”

In a tweet praising Kohli’s 82nd century, which he scored in a must-win game, Amir referred to him as a true champion and an inspiration to many.

“100 number 82 from the real king @imVkohli what a inning in must win game. True champion and inspiration for many people,” tweeted the former Pakistan pacer.

It is speculated that Amir’s tweet was aimed at Babar Azam, suggesting that Kohli is superior to Azam and highlighting him as a genuine champion and source of inspiration.

Reports indicate that Babar Azam and Mohammad Amir have had a strained relationship in the past. This was evident during the PSL 2023 tournament when Amir, prior to his team’s match against Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi, stated that there was no difference between bowling to Azam and bowling to tailenders.

The two players also engaged in a heated argument during one of the matches in this year’s PSL.
