“Batters did not do well” – Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal opens up on where they lost the match against Delhi Capitals

Punjab Kings suffered a 17-run defeat in the 64th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the hands of Delhi Capitals on Monday. After which, Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal made a big disclosure and informed where the bet slipped from his team’s hands.

After the match, Mayank said that between five to 10 overs, Punjab Kings lost some crucial wickets and it in the end turned out to be the biggest factor in their lost.

In the match played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Delhi Capitals batted first and scored 159/7 in their 20 overs. In reply, Punjab’s team could only score 142 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. With this defeat, Punjab’s hopes of reaching the playoffs have remained very low. Now if Punjab wants to reach the playoffs, then they will have to win their last league stage match by a huge margin and also depend on the results of other teams.

After the match, Mayank Agarwal said in the post match presentation that Punjab batters did not do well and lost number of wickets between 5 to 10 overs. He added that with the kind of batting order they have, they should chased the target and that the pitch too was not bad to bat at.

Mayank Agarwal said that his team’s entire focus is on winning the last league match. He said that there is still one more match to play and they want to win that match as the two points are really important.

Punjab Kings have played 13 matches so far in the IPL 2022, in which they have won 6 matches and lost in 7 matches. Mayank Agarwal-led Punjab Kings are at the seventh position in the IPL 2022 points table. They have to play its last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. The Kings will need a huge victory and hope that others results go their way.
