IPL 2023 Retention: Full list of team-wise retained players ahead of IPL 2023 Player Auction

The big day has arrived for all the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises to announce their list of retained players for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season.

Gujarat Titans stunned everyone to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 edition in what was just their maiden appearance in the cash rich league.

And now, every teams look to rebuild their squad for the next season with the IPL 2023 Player Auction to take place in December. But before that, today was the last day for the teams to finalise the list of players they have retained and also the deadline for the trade window.

Only a few teams utilised the trade window and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were the most active, bagging in Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Gujarat Titans, Shardul Thakur joins them from Delhi Capitals, who instead gets Aman Khan.

But now, since the 5 PM deadline is passed, in this article, let us take a look at the list of players retained by each of the IPL teams. We follow the IPL 2022 final points table as the order of this list.

Gujarat Titans: The defending champions Gujarat Titans have retained a total of 18 players before the IPL 2023 Player Auction.

Rajasthan Royals: The Sanju Samson led Rajasthan Royals made it to the final of the IPL after a huge gap but lost to Gujarat in the end. They also finished 2nd in the league table. They have retained a total of 16 players.

Lucknow Super Giants: Lucknow Super Giants were the other new team to have entered the competition from IPL 2022 alongwith Gujarat Titans. The KL Rahul led side have retained a total of 15 players for IPL 2023.

Royal Challengers Bangalore: RCB, who are still in the hunt of their 1st ever IPL trophy, have retained a total of 18 players.

Delhi Capitals: Delhi Capitals have kept hold of their formidable squad and will be looking to capture their 1st ever IPL Gold. They have retained 20 players and have only released 5 players.

Punjab Kings: Punjab Kings have always been known for being a star-studded team. Going into the Auction, they have released a total of 9 players and 16 have been retained.

Kolkata Knight Riders: The Kolkata based 2 times IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders have retained a total of 14 players as they hunt for their 3rd Trophy.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: A huge reshuffle awaits for Sunrisers Hyderabad as a total of 12 players have been retained and as much has also been released.

Chennai Super Kings: After a terrible season the last time around finishing 2nd to bottom in the points table, CSK will be looking to bounce back. They have retained a total of 18 players and have released 8 players before IPL 2023 Auction.

Mumbai Indians: The most successful team in the history of the competition, Mumbai Indians, who finished bottom of the points table last time, will be looking to do better this time around. They have retained 16 players and have let go of 13 players.
