“How can spinner’s ball bounce so high on a pitch where pacer’s ball is staying low” – Twitter raises question on controversial Babar Azam LBW review

After today’s brilliant match between New Zealand and Pakistan in the 1st semi-final match of the T20 World Cup 2022, we have Pakistan as the 1st team to have qualified for the Grand Finale that is to be played on the 13th of November.

Batting first in the match, New Zealand posted a total of 152 runs on the board thanks a fifty from Daryl Mitchell and a decent knock from Kane Williamson after a slow start.

But, Pakistan got off to a flying start in their chase for 153 runs. They scored over 50 runs in the powerplay thanks to blistering knocks from Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam. Pakistan in the end won the match by 7 wickets.

Meanwhile, there was a moment in the match that could have changed the complexity of the match. It was during Mitchell Santner’s over that there was a LBW appeal on Babar Azam which the umpire declined.

However, Kane Williamson decided to review it. The review footage showed that the ball had too much bounce on it and was missing the stumps. However, that didn’t boad well with the fans and their opinion is that when a fast bowler’s ball was staying low on that surface, how could a spin bowler’s ball had such a big bounce. Twitterati questioned the technology.
