Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the biggest cricket franchise, whether it is about their fan base or about the number of star players they have or had in the team, whether is Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell or even former player AB de Villiers.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the total 8 founding members of the Indian Premier League (IPL), currently the world’s biggest T20 cricket league and one of the biggest sporting league in the world.
Despite being so long a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bangalore have never won the IPL in their history. They have reached the final of the competition several times but failed to win the tournament.
Recently, the team expanded to the women’s team as well when they bought the rights to play in the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) that is currently going on. They bagged some of the big stars of the game in the WPL Auction.
But but, what is the result, the team currently hangs right at the bottom of the points table. After having played 5 matches in the tournament, the team has failed to even win a single match and has 0 wins and 0 points beside their team’s name and a net run rate of -2.109.
Does that mean they are out of running for the playoffs of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Well not so, they still have 3 matches to play and can miraculously still make it to the WPL 2023 Playoffs. So what are the equations, let’s have a look.
How can Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Women’s team qualify for WPL 2023 Final?
First of all what is the WPL 2023 Playoffs format. According to the formats of the tournament, the team that finishes at the top of the points table will automatically qualify for the WPL 2023 Final to be played on the 26th March. The teams who finish on 2nd and 3rd position respectively will play against each other in a eliminator.
For Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to qualify, they can at maximum reach 3rd place in the table. Now, RCB need to win all their remaining 3 matches against UP Warriorz, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants. That will take them to 6 points.
Other than that, they have to hope that UP Warriorz losses all the remaining matches. Added to that, they will also have to hope that Gujarat Giants not win more than 1 match. That will somehow put into a better position with better net run rate.
This has been a season to forget for the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women’s team. All their star players for whom they invested a lot of money have failed to deliver, particularly their captain Smriti Mandhana.
