Rivalry at its peak; Here's how RCB can meet LSG once again in the IPL 2023 playoffs: Explained

The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League has been the best season. So far, fans have been treated to high-scoring thrillers, last-over finishes, and some spicy-hot rivalry. One new-age rivalry got heated up this season, which is between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants.

These two teams have played two group matches this season, and both ended with some intense and heated moments between the two teams. It started with a win for LSG in the first game in Bengaluru. LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir made a gesture of “fingers on lips” towards the RCB fans.

And the world knew something more would happen when these two teams met in Lucknow. That’s exactly what happened, and Virat Kohli gave it back in his own style. He also had a heated altercation with LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq and mentor Gautam Gambhir after the game.

After a few games, Virat posted an appreciation post for GT’s Wriddhiman Saha and Rashid Khan for doing well against LSG. It was followed with a “mango” post by Naveen-ul-Haq when RCB lost to MI. As both RCB and LSG have won one game each this season, many fans want to see a decider between the two teams.

And how exciting it will be if these two teams can meet again in the playoffs! Well, it looks a bit difficult, but mathematically, anything can be possible. Here, we have brought up the situation where these two teams can meet in the playoffs.

Gujarat Titans have already made it to the next round, and if possible, there are chances that we can have RCB vs LSG in the Eliminator. For that, some results need to go their way.

  • RCB to beat GT and SRH
  • CSK should win against DC
  • KKR needs to beat LSG
  • SRH should win against MI
  • PBKS must lose against DC or RR

If the above games can end with the same results, then CSK will finish second with 17 points and will face GT in Qualifier 1. RCB and LSG will finish the group in third and fourth place. Then both will play in the Eliminator, just like last season. However, if LSG finishes in the top two and RCB finishes in third or fourth, then both teams can play in Qualifier 2 or the final of the tournament.
