Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals were involved in a sensational game on Tuesday. However, as per reports, there is likely to be a match-fixing investigation with regards to this encounter. In this article, we tell you the reason why Deepak Hooda could be investigated for Match-Fixing in IPL 2021 happening in UAE.
The Baroda all-rounder has had a tough year or so
Deepak Hooda has had a tough year or so. Around a year ago, he had an altercation with Krunal Pandya while playing together for Baroda, and Deepak had to make the issue public. He was subsequently dropped from the team. A few months ago, the former Sunrisers Hyderabad player announced that he would be leaving Baroda for the upcoming domestic season.
While it has been difficult on the Baroda front, Deepak Hooda has been actually good in IPL 2020 and the start of IPL 2021. Although he did not start the ongoing leg on a good note, he has been one of the bright performers for the franchise this campaign.
Deepak Hooda could be investigated for Match-Fixing in IPL
A few reports suggest that Deepak Hooda could be investigated for match-fixing in the ongoing edition of IPL. The reason for it is the below post which the all-rounder posted before the game on Tuesday. He had posted, “Here we go @punjabkingsipl #pbksvsrr #ipl2021 #saddapunjab.”
As per the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) of BCCI, there is a possibility that this post could violate the anti-corruption guidelines. One of the members said, “ACU will look into this post. Our restrictions are that there shall not be any talk about the composition of the team.”
Deepak posting with the team helmet before the game is under the scanner. This is because it is looking like a hint that he would be part of the playing XI. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ACU is also having an eye on social media posts because approaches could be made over the internet. Hence, there are chances that there might be an investigation on Deepak. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings will hope to reverse their fortune in the upcoming games. Despite being in a winning position, they lost the game in final overs to RR.
