“It would have been Kohli vs Gambhir again” – Eoin Morgan predicts what would have happened had Harshal Patel executed Mankading on Ravi Bishnoi on the last ball

Eoin Morgan has said that if Harshal Patel had executed the run out of Ravi Bishnoi at the non-striker’s during the last-over finish in the RCB vs LSG clash, it would have led to a pitch invasion and a clash between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir.

During the last over of the RCB vs LSG match, with one ball remaining and one run needed to win, Harshal Patel was unable to execute the run-out of Ravi Bishnoi, who was well ahead of the non-striker’s crease before Harshal completed his delivery. Although Harshal attempted to dislodge the bails, he missed by a narrow margin.

Morgan shared his reaction to the exciting conclusion of the match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday, stating that Harshal Patel probably did not have a pre-planned strategy to attempt a run-out and must have been taken aback during his run-up when he saw how far ahead Bishnoi was from the non-striker’s crease.

Morgan, in a post-match chat with JioCinema, said that had Harshal Patel executed the run-out of Ravi Bishnoi, there would have been a pitch invasion and it could have resulted in a clash between Kohli and Gambhir.

“Not for one moment, do I think it was a conscious effort. Harshal Patel was running in and must have been in shock to see how far away he (Bishoi was) and missed the run-out. But if he had run him out, there would have been a pitch invasion. It would have been Kohli-Gambhir gloves on,” said the former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player.

According to Morgan, he doesn’t know what Bishnoi was thinking and believes that he should have stayed in the crease and realized the risk of being run out. He mentioned that when the bowlers are on the crease, there’s always a possibility of anything happening.

In the final delivery of the match, Avesh Khan, the number eleven batsman of LSG, was unable to connect his bat with Harshal Patel’s ball. However, RCB’s wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik fumbled while collecting the ball, allowing Khan to run a bye and winning the match for his team.
