The 1st of the 3 match Test series between the two of the powerhouses of the Test cricket has began as England take on the New Zealand cricket team in London Lord’s ground.
While during the match, the authorities of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) paid a tribute to the veteran bowler Shane Warne, who passed away at an early age.
Shane Warne, one of the greats of the game, known for his brilliant bowling skills and probably there is no batsman who has managed to play the mystery bowler that easily. The Australian legend unfortunately passed away due to an accident on the 4th of March at the age of just 52 years old.
Meanwhile, the players of the England cricket team and the New Zealand cricket team paid a tribute to the legendary bowler. At the end of the 23rd over of the match, the authorities announced that a small tribute for Shane Warne, with a video clip of the bowler’s achievement showing on the big screen, while the crowd gave a standing ovation.
The whole scene was done on the 23rd over of the match, only because Shane Warne use to wear jersey number 23 during his playing days. And even, the video footage ran for 23 seconds as well.
As for the match, England are in cruise control as they have dismissed 9 batter of the Kiwis as of writing this, after Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bat first.
Other than four batters (Daryl Mitchell, Tom Blundell, Colin de Grandhomme and Tim Southee), everyone else has failed to reach the double figure. James Anderson, who was excluded from the West Indies tour, took 4 wickets, while debutant Matty Potts has also bagged 4 for the Ben Stokes led side.
