Following the controversial incidents during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Naveen-ul-Haq, a paceman for LSG, made a new post on Instagram that seemed to criticize Virat Kohli for their recent heated exchange.
Naveen shared a picture with Gautam Gambhir, who also had an altercation with Kohli after the match, subtly taunting the RCB star and causing another uproar on social media.
Gambhir, who is a mentor for LSG, commented on the post as well. Kohli was involved in multiple arguments with Naveen during the match and briefly clashed with Amit Mishra.
LSG all-rounder Kyle Mayers attempted to speak with Kohli after the match, but Gambhir intervened and had a conversation with the RCB star. Both Kohli and Gambhir were subsequently fined 100% of their match fee by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), while Naveen received a 50% fine.
Despite the incident seemingly coming to an end, Naveen posted a new cryptic message on Instagram. Along with a picture with Gautam Gambhir, Naveen captioned the post with the message, “Treat people the way you want to be treated. Talk to people the way you want to be talked to #With (Goat Emoji).”
The post was perceived by many as a subtle dig at Kohli, reigniting the controversy.
Gambhir responded to Naveen’s post with a comment that read, “Be who you are!! ‘Never Change’.” It is unclear whether Gambhir’s comment was intended to be a direct response to Naveen’s post or if it was simply a general statement. Nonetheless, his comment could be seen as a show of support for Naveen’s message.
Talking about RCB’s match on Saturday, Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore faced off against the Delhi Capitals. However, the homecoming for the star batter did not go as planned as the hosts secured a comfortable 7-wicket victory over Kohli’s team.
