Watch: David Wiese scores 27 runs in an over in Pakistan Super League 2022 eliminator clash against Islamabad United

Lahore Qalandars recorded a very crucial victory over the Islamabad United and will now face the Multan Sultans in the all important Grand Finale of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022, all thanks to a blistering inning from David Wiese.

Lahore Qalandars faced off the Islamabad United in the Eliminator 2 of the Pakistan Super League 2022 season in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on the 25th February, on Friday.

Lahore Qalandars had earlier suffered a loss against the Multan Sultans in the Qualifier, and as per the rules, they then faced off the Eliminator 1 winner, that is Islamabad United.

After opting to bat first after winning the toss, Lahore Qalandars required a solid finish, which they got in the form of David Wiese, who scored a 28 runs from 8 balls, 27 of those coming of the last over.

Lahore Qalandars were at 141 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, with David Wiese and Shaheen Afridi at the crease. Waqas Maqsood bowled the last over of the Lahore innings, but turned out a nightmare for him, giving away 27 runs in that over, which included 3 Sixes.

David Wiese smashed the first ball for a six over the deep point, while the 2nd ball was smashed over the long off. He then hit the 3rd ball for a boundary down the short fine leg and wrapped things off with a huge six on the fifth ball of the over. He further had scored four runs from the 4th and the 6th ball combined, while Maqsood had started off with a wide ball.

Thanks to the firework by David Wiese in the last over, Lahore Qalandars managed to put 168 runs on the board and those runs played a big role in Lahore Qalandars victory as they won the match by only 6 runs, showing the importance of those runs.

With that win, Lahore Qalandars have now reached the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022, and rightfully deserving so, having finished 2nd in the points table.

They will now take on the Multan Sultans in the final of the tournament, who beat the Lahore side in Qualifier and thus should have a morale boost over the Lahore side. The final will be unfolded infront of out eyes on the 27th February, on Sunday.
