The injury list just keep growing just before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 opening match between defending champions Gujarat Titans and the 4 times Champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) square off on the 31st of March.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is adding itself in the history book for all the wrong reasons, especially the number of crucial players that each of the IPL franchises are set to miss.
IPL’s seasonal campaigners like Jonny Bairstow, Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood, Shreyas Iyer, Prasidh Krishna among a lot who are either ruled out for the IPL 2023 entirely or some are set to miss a part of the competition.
The latest player who seems to be now adding his name to the injury list is the new addition at the Chennai Super Kings as their star all-rounder Ben Stokes is also recovering from a knee injury.
Chennai Super Kings will play their opening match of the tournament on the 31st of March against the Gujarat Titans, which is also the first match of IPL 2023. But just before that, the news is that Ben Stokes is currently recovering from a knee. Now this has led to the fans question whether the England all-rounder would be available for the opening match.
The knee injury to Ben Stokes is said to be not so bad that the all-rounder could be ruled out of the IPL 2023 opening match vs Gujarat Titans, but will not be able to bowl in the match. So, Ben Stokes will play on the 31st March vs Gujarat Titans as a specialist batter rather than a bowler.
Ben Stokes is managing a knee injury henceforth he'll play the first few matches of the IPL as a specialist batter. (Reported by Espncricinfo).
