“Final chapter of my career” – Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni drops major announcement about his IPL retirement after win vs SRH

On Friday, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni), suggested that this Indian Premier League (IPL) season could be his final one by acknowledging that he is in the “last phase” of his career.

His team provided the audience at the MA Chidambaram stadium with a lot of excitement on Friday evening by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets. In this IPL 2023 match, New Zealand player Devon Conway scored his third half-century, and Ravindra Jadeja took three vital wickets.

After Sunrisers Hyderabad had set a target of 134/7, Chennai Super Kings successfully chased it down with eight balls remaining. Devon Conway played a crucial role in the victory, scoring an unbeaten 77 runs off 57 balls. He partnered with Ruturaj Gaikwad for the opening wicket, and the two of them shared an 87-run partnership, with Gaikwad contributing 35 runs to the partnership.

Upon emerging from the dugout and being greeted by a massive roar of support from the crowd after the team’s victory, Dhoni admitted, “Regardless of how long I continue to play, it’s the final chapter of my career.”

Following the match, Dhoni expressed his pleasure at the fans being able to attend matches in person after two years, stating “It feels good to be here and have the fans return to the stadium. The crowd has given us a lot of love and affection.”

Dhoni also commended the performance of the young Sri Lankan pace bowler, Matheesha Pathirana. Despite being slightly expensive, conceding 42 runs, Pathirana bowled four excellent overs and claimed two wickets, earning praise from the CSK captain.
