There has been a major dispute regarding the Asia Cup 2023 edition that is to be played in Pakistan. Team India’s participation in the competition raised many questions as BCCI stated that Team India won’t travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023.
Since the year 2022, there has been a major question mark regarding the Indian cricket team’s participation in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 to be played in Pakistan.
While India and Pakistan are two great cricket playing nation and also neighbour to each other, it is actually the political reason between both the countries and security concern of players in Pakistan that has led to BCCI deciding not to travel to Pakistan to play Asia Cup 2023.
Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja’s statement after the BCCI’s denial to visit Pakistan to play Asia Cup also sparked major issues. Raja threatened not to visit India for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
There seemed to be no solution found to this issue until today. According to various reports from various media sources, the Asia Cup 2023 will still be played in Pakistan, however, all of the Indian cricket team’s matches will be played on a neutral venue likely to be UAE, Oman, Sri Lanka or even England.
Also in case the Indian cricket team reaches the Final of the Asia Cup 2023, then also the match will be played at a neutral venue even if it is India vs Pakistan in the Final. If any other team qualifies for the Asia Cup 2023 Final and not India, the final will be played in Pakistan itself.
