On Sunday, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium hosted the 60th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, where the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced off against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
RCB won the match convincingly, with a 112-run lead. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, RCB put up a decent score of 171/5 in 20 overs, with notable contributions from Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, who scored 55 and 54 runs, respectively.
Rajasthan’s batting performance was dismal, with their openers out for a duck and never really recovering. Although Shimron Hetmyer played a quick innings of 35 off 19 balls, it was not enough to save the team, which was eventually bowled out for just 59 in 10.3 overs.
Anuj Rawat’s MS Dhoni-like run-out during the match also caught the attention of cricket enthusiasts. It happened during the sixth ball of the eighth over, when Hetmyer attempted to steal a double off Parnell’s delivery.
Rawat collected the quick throw from Mohammed Siraj and back flicked it into the stumps from between his legs, resulting in a direct hit that caught non-striker Ravichandran Ashwin off-guard. Ashwin was out for a duck without even facing a ball.
Anuj’s exceptional run-out performance during the match drew comparisons to the legendary cricketer Dhoni, who was known for pulling off similar feats throughout his illustrious career. Interestingly, the wicketkeeper was actually wearing MS Dhoni’s signed glove as well.
