Despite the presence of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Indian cricket team has failed to win any major ICC Trophy in recent couple of years since last winning the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013.
While IPL has ensured many new talents coming through, not only for the Indian team but also for the other teams, but the Indian team has failed to dominate the game the way everyone thought.
IPL has played a huge role in unearthing some new gems, like Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Venkatesh Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Arshdeep Singh to name a few.
But many former Indian cricketers and cricketers from other parts of the world have criticised the IPL only for India not winning the World Cup.
Former Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir have now had his say on this topic. The former KKR captain and the 2 times IPL champions with the franchise, said that the IPL is best thing to happen to Indian cricket and it is actually the players who are to blame for India not winning the World Cup.
While many have mocked the former India opener for his statement, many even saying that Gautam Gambhir is right with his statement.
Gautam Gambhir said, "IPL is the best thing that has happened to Indian cricket. If we don't perform well in ICC events, then blame the players and their performance".

Ipl. Separate every fan in 10 parts
That's the tweet 🤫
It has benefitted our players in terms of individual achievements and also it benefitted lot of overseas players as well. Our players did not make big in icc events but for sure overseas players utilised it better.

People can blame ipl as much as they want but it has provided a platform for young and unknown players to perform. Many players got food because of ipl.
