The Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia have always been a intense rivalry as two of the biggest and most strongest team in the history of game in its history.
As such, it is always tends to be the most strongest and toughest series for any player to make their debut. But we have seen that over the last couple of years, there have been players who have made their debut in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and now they have become one of the best.
In this term too, there are some debutants in both the camp. And in today’s article, we take a look at the players who could make their Test debut in the 1st Border-Gavaskar Trophy match in Nagpur.
Indian middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav could be set to make his debut in the red ball cricket after his brilliant outing for the Indian cricket team in the T20 format of the game. While Surya has not played much red ball cricket in the last 3 years, it is his unorthodox batting has made him a place in the team as the BCCI believe he can play the role of a X-Factor.
Wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan could be looking to turn his red ball career to a glorious one after his exploits in the white ball format. The BCCI expects him to play the same role as Rishabh Pant, who is set to miss the series due to massive accident he suffered on 30th December.
Another wicketkeeper batsman who could be set to make his debut is one other than Srikar Bharat (KS Bharat), who has been a part of the Indian Test team as backup batsman mostly for Saha and then Pant. He has won multiple Trophies with the team but is yet to make his debut, and the 1st Test in Nagpur could be the momentous occasion for him. However, it is likely that either of Ishan Kishan or Srikar Bharat will play in the match and not two.
There has been much talk in the Australia cricket media that young off-spin bowler Todd Murphy could be set to make his debut in the series. With the pitch set to assist the spinners, the Aussies could be going with 2 spinners, however, with Nathan Lyon already in the team, it is not sure that how much chances are there for Murphy to make his debut. Murphy plays domestic cricket for Victoria and has taken 26 wickets in 6 matches.
Australia have another debutant, Lance Morris in the squad, but there has been so far no reports that he could play in the match. However, with the reports suggesting that Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the 1st match to due injury, Lance could be seen bowling alongside skipper Pat Cummins. He has played 18 first-class matches and has 59 wickets while playing for Western Australia in the domestic cricket.
